Mehret Ayalew Mandefro

Founding Director, TRUTHAids

Mehret Mandefro is the Founding Director of TruthAIDs, a South Bronx non-profit seeking to raise awareness about women’s rights and HIV/AIDS. She is also the subject of the documentary, Mehret, which exhibits the relationship between power and sex.

“I want to help women to take control of their intimate lives. To me, domestic violence is the pink elephant in the room; certainly, the interventions in HIV prevention have not dealt with it at all.”
