2013 Honoree

Jackie Ceonzo

Executive Director/Founder, SNACK, Special Needs Activity Center for Kids

“Power is the ability to persuade people to help. I enjoy it when it works! I am proud of what I’ve done so far, but I can’t declare success.”

What city best describes your personality?

New York City, the city that never sleeps.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever ignored, and the worst advice you’ve ever taken?

I don’t usually ignore good advice.
Worst Taken: Waiting to take my son to the doctor when I thought he had a problem.

What is your best read? What book would you want to be a character in?

My favorite is “Oh the Places You’ll go.” I feel like I am a character already!

How do you define power? Do you enjoy it? How do you live with your success?

When we stop talking about it and just expect it. Politics is played by both–-[is gender] more important? Yes, maybe.

When do we stop asking questions about gender equality? When will it be Power People instead of Power Women? Is gender more important than politics?

Power is the ability to persuade people to help. I enjoy it when it works! I am proud of what I’ve done so far, but I can’t declare success.

What do you think of social media?

I am afraid a bit, but need to learn more–-talk about power.

What’s one place you’ve always wanted to visit on your travels?

Italy.

When sending a child out to see the world for the first time, where would you send them?

To the ocean, so they realize it’s a big world.

What advice would you give to a young woman starting out?

Be nice! Same advice to a young man. And be good at what you do.
