Other countries do a far better job of supporting parents as they build a family while continuing to build a career.” (On when it will be Power People instead of Power Women)
What city best describes your personality?
New York City. Ever evolving, energetic, a little intimidating at first, but once the ice is broken, your best friend friend for life.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever ignored, and the worst advice you’ve ever taken?
Best Ignored: Start preparing for retirement now.
Worst Taken: Wear flats because you’re too tall.
What is your best read? What book would you want to be a character in?
The Book Thief or The Elegance of the Hedgehog.
How do you define power? Do you enjoy it? How do you live with your success?
Having choices and the ability to reach and influence others. I like having choices. I like telling a story that touches people. By knowing that it’s all in perception, and temporary.

What do you think of social media?
I think it’s very revealing and as influential as you make it.

Bali. I long for a spiritual retreat.
When sending a child out to see the world for the first time, where would you send them?
A farm. I think it’s important to understand where our food comes from and to respect the people and animals who provide it.
What advice would you give to a young woman starting out?
Make friends with someone whose shoes you’d like to be in. Trust yourself and don’t worry about what anyone else is doing. Choose a partner with a sense of humor. It’s everything.
